Scottish champions Celtic signed winger Derk Boerrigter from Dutch champions Ajax on Tuesday for a fee believed to be £3m and he could make his debut in Wednesday's UEFA Champions League third round qualifier.
The 26-year-old - who scored six times last season in helping Ajax win the title - signed a four-year contract and could well play a part against Swedish side Elfsborg in the first leg of the qualifier in Glasgow.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon, who has raised £17.5m from the transfers of Victor Wanyama to Southampton and Gary Hooper to Norwich City, said that Boerrigter ticked all the boxes.
"He is the type of player we have been looking for for a while," said Lennon, who is confident of another new signing this week.
"He is a very fast, direct, left-footed player who has goals in him with his left and right foot. He is also very powerful. He has good experience and he has played at a high level for the last two or three years."
Boerrigter had two spells with Ajax, re-signing with them in 2011, and also played for other Dutch outfits Zwolle and RKC Waalwijk.
