AC Milan defender Daniele Bonera looks set to be ruled out for up to three months after breaking his kneecap in the club's 2-1 friendly win against Valencia on Saturday.
The 32-year-old was diagnosed with a compound fracture of the patella in his right knee after the game at the Mestalla, and his injury was not the only blow for I Rossoneri, with team-mate Robinho also picking up an adductor problem.
"After initial investigations carried out and after consultation with professor Herbert Schonhuber, we opted for conservative treatment with a prognosis of a return (for Bonera) between 70 and 90 days, barring complications," a club statement read.
"Robinho suffers from an adductor muscle problem in his left thigh. In two weeks he will undergo further medical examinations to determine the extent of the injury."
