A-League champions Central Coast Mariners have signed experienced Dutch defender Marcel Seip for the next three seasons.
The 31-year-old, who has previously played for English clubs Blackpool, Sheffield United and Bradford City, will join from Dutch team VVV Venlo.
Seip said it was a big decision to move to Australia with his family, but he was encouraged by Mariners midfielder Nick Montgomery who also played for Sheffield United in 2010.
"I spoke to Montgomery and he said life is amazing, that football in Australia is on the up, and that the Mariners are the current A-League Champions," Seip said in a statement.
"My wife is also close friends with Nick's wife and we have been in contact since talking about Australia."
Coach Graham Arnold said Seip was a quality addition to the Mariners' already solid defence.
"He is a strong defender, and someone I believe will add steel to our backline," he said.
