Greek international Charis Mavrias is set to join English Premier League side Sunderland from Panathinaikos, the Athens News Agency has reported.
The Greek Super League club said a verbal agreement has been reached over the transfer of the 19-year-old for a fee of €3m ($3.9m USD, £2.5m).
The agency reported Sunderland had an initial offer of €2m rejected by Panathinaikos two weeks ago.
Mavrias has made two appearances for the Greek national team and has played at all levels in the country's youth teams.
He joined Panathinaikos in 2010 and in three seasons with the Athens club has played 51 matches, scoring three goals.
