Shakhtar claim fourth straight title

Shakhtar Donetsk won their fourth straight Ukraine league title on Sunday despite only drawing 1-1 at Metalist Kharkiv.

Marko Devic had opened the scoring for Kharkiv, but Ilsinho's equaliser with just over five minutes remaining meant the title was heading back to Donetsk yet again.

Metalist were the only team capable of catching Romanian coach Mircea Lucescu's team but needed to win to have any chance of doing so.

The result left Shakhtar 15 points clear of second placed Dynamo Kiev, who leapfrogged Metalist on goal difference with a 2-0 over Dnepropetrovsk, with just four games left.

It was Shakhtar's eighth league title in total but still leaves them behind Kiev, with 13 overall wins - including nine in a row from 1993 to 2001.
