Joshua Risdon's last-minute stunner was enough to earn Perth a 3-2 win at Melbourne Victory that drags them away from the foot of the table. Glory took advantage of the hosts having some key players away on Socceroo duty to take the points, leaving them four clear of bottom-placed Wellington.
Risdon's goal was good enough to win any game, a curler from 20 yards, and it was just reward for a Perth side who did not deserve to be level. When Chris Cristaldo equalised for Melbourne with five minutes left, the ball had appeared to go out of play in the build-up.
It looked as though that moment would mean Perth - 2-1 ahead after Chris Harold and Travis Dodd scrubbed out Adrian Leijer's opener - would have to settle for a draw. But thanks to the brilliance of Liam Miller in midfield, and Risdon's goal, they got the points.
At the top of the table, leaders Western Sydney Wanderers drew 1-1 with Sydney FC. Italian striker Alessandro Del Piero put Sydney in front in the first half, but Shannon Cole levelled after the break.
