Rubin beat holders to win Super Cup

Two-time Russian champions Rubin Kazan, last season's cup winners, won their second national Super Cup thanks to a 2-0 defeat of reigning champions Zenit St Petersburg at Samara on Saturday.

Rubin, winners of the competition in 2010, looked more confident from the opening whistle and defender Salvatore Bocchetti gave them the lead in the 20th minute with a header from Roman Eremenko's corner.

Forward Vladimir Dyadyun made it 2-0 for Rubin in the 38th minute, firing the ball into the net from fellow midfielder Alexander Ryazantsev's cross to secure Kazan's win.
