Former English Premier League forward Michael Bridges has re-signed with the Newcastle Jets for a further Australian A-League season.
The Jets said the former Sunderland and Leeds United striker, 33, had signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
"I wouldn't have gone around again and I don't think the coaching staff would have given me the opportunity if they didn't feel it was the right decision as well," Bridges said.
"I've looked after myself and it was great being back this week (at training)."
Bridges made more than 200 Premier League appearances and scored 68 goals in English club football in an injury-affected career that also took in stints at Carlisle United, Bristol City and Hull City.
Coach Gary van Egmond said Bridges was an important member of the Jets' team with his experience and support for the club's younger players.
Bridges has scored 11 times in 48 A-League appearances for the Jets.
