Former Dutch coach Knobel dies

Former Netherlands coach George Knobel has died at his home in the town of Roosendaal at the age of 89.

Knobel, who was in charge of the Oranje between 1974 and 1976, had been suffering from Alzheimers.

He led the Dutch side to the 1976 UEFA European Championship in Yugoslavia, where they finished third.

Before becoming national coach, Knobel had a spell in charge of Ajax from August 1973 to April 1974. He also later coached Hong Kong in 1980-81.
