Franck Ribery claims media criticism has affected his recent performances for France and insists he is a "completely different" player when he lines up for Bayern Munich.
The 28-year-old winger is currently in his homeland as Bayern prepare for a UEFA Champions League quarter-final, first leg against his former club Marseille tomorrow night.
He has scored 11 Bundesliga goals this season as Bayern attempt to wrest the title from holders and leaders Borussia Dortmund, but admits he is less happy when he plays for Les Bleus and has not scored for the national team for almost three years.
He told L'Equipe: "In Munich everything is designed to make me feel good. There is not a problem directly with the public [in France], it is with the people in the middle. They keep criticising me.
"It irritates me. It should not happen like that, they get carried away. It should be as it is in Munich. In Germany, I'm happy, I'm having the time of my life.
"In the France team, I'm completely different. I do not know if it is in the mind that this is happening, but it is.
"I do not want to explain to those who are always there to criticise. I prefer to forget about them."
