Joao Havelange, the former president of FIFA, is still "in serious condition" in a Rio hospital, his doctor said Tuesday.

In a statement released by the Samaritano hospital, Joao Mansur Filho again described Havelange's condition as "serious" and said exams showed that his patients suffers from " a serious bacterial infection with cellulitis in the right ankle."

Havelange, who was admitted to the hospital Sunday, was put in a coronary care unit and given intravenous antibiotic treatment.
