Czech Republic striker Vaclav Sverkos will be out for six months, his club Banik Ostrava said today, after the player ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament in their last championship match against Sparta Prague.
"An operation is inevitable. He will only be able to play again in September or October," said club doctor Rene Boglevsky on the club's website.
The 28-year-old scored three goals in 11 games with the national side between 2008 and 2010. He also played for French side Sochaux, Borussia Moenchengladbach and Hertha Berlin in Germany, Austria Vienna, and Panionios in Greece.
