FC Copenhagen staged a late rally to beat FC Nordsjaelland 2-0 in their DBU Cup quarter-final, in what was a battle between the top two in the Danish Superligaen.

The Wild Tigers upset FCK 3-1 on their last visit to the Parken exactly one month ago, and they looked set to cause the capital crowd more disappointment by forcing a replay.

However, in the 89th minute, Icelandic centre-back Solvi Ottesen broke the deadlock, before Pate Pape Diouf secured Roland Nilsson’s men victory in injury time.

The result ended Nordsjaelland’s hopes of becoming the first team to win three successive editions of the DBU Cup, which was inaugurated in 1955.

Bechmann, Retov emerge heroes
Elsewhere, a Tommy Bechmann hat-trick inspired SonderjyskE to a 5-1 thrashing of lower-league side Naesby 5-1, while Martin Retov, a three-time DBU Cup winner with Brondby, scored both goals as Horsens came from behind to win 2-1 at Fredericia.

Completing the last four are HB Koge, who soothed their league problems by beating VB Kolding 2-1 on their travels.
