Veteran Iceland striker Eidur Gudjohnsen underwent successful surgery for a broken right foot today, but is expected to miss the rest of the season, his Greek Super League club AEK Athens announced.

Gudjohnsen, a former Chelsea and Barcelona player, was injured in yesterday's 1-1 draw with Olympiakos Piraeus.

The Greek Cup winners signed the 32-year-old during the summer on a two-year contract reportedly worth €650,000-a-year, not including bonuses.
