Edwards gets Wales call-up

Wales manager Gary Speed has called up Wolves midfielder David Edwards for the upcoming Group G UEFA EURO 2012 qualifiers against Switzerland and Bulgaria. Edwards has been sidelined for the last seven internationals with a back problem.

While he returns Speed will have to do without injured duo Danny Gabbidon (knee) and Robert Earnshaw (thigh). Wolves forward Sam Vokes is included in the 23-man squad in Earnshaw's absence while defender Neal Eardley drops on to the standby list.

Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy and Sunderland midfielder David Vaughan are available again after missing out against England due to suspension as Wales look to continue the progress they made in last month's double-header.

Wales play Switzerland in Swansea on 7 October and Bulgaria in Sofia four days later. Wales foot their group with three points.

A win over Montenegro, their first points, and narrow defeat at Wembley against England have seen Speed's side climb 27 places in the FIFA world rankings, up to 90th from a record low of 117th.
