Poland to meet Korea Republic

UEFA EURO 2012 co-hosts Poland will face Korea Republic in their latest friendly as they tune up for next year's tournament on home turf, the Polish FA announced on Friday.

The match will take place in the South Korean capital Seoul on 7 October.

Like fellow-hosts Ukraine, Poland have an automatic berth at the 16-nation European championships and so must rely on friendlies to hone their skills.

Last week, the Poles almost pulled off a major upset against Germany, who they have never beaten, before a extra-time goal by the visitors saw the match end 2-2.

That result, on a back of a 1-1 score at home to Mexico just days earlier, helped ease the pressure on Poland manager Franciszek Smuda.

After Korea Republic, Poland's next scheduled opponents are Italy, who are due to play in the south-western Polish city of Wroclaw on 11 November.
