Swiss forward Mario Gavranovic has moved from Schalke to Bundesliga rivals Mainz on loan until the end of the season.
Mainz, who are currently seventh in the Bundesliga, paid €200,000 for the 21-year-old and have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season for €1.5 million.
"I'm glad to now be here in Mainz. I really wanted this change," said the Lugano-born Gavranovic who had not featured at all for Schalke yet this season.
"As regards the national team and in view of the Olympic Games in London, it is important that I play regularly. Mainz has a team that likes to attack and that suits me well."
