Del Bosque brings in trio

Vicente Del Bosque today named three new faces in his Spain squad for the friendly against Chile and the UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier with Liechtenstein. Atletico Madrid centre-half Alvaro Dominguez, Sporting Gijon defender Alberto Botia and Barcelona B man Martin Montoya were all called up.

Del Bosque argued it was a natural progression for players who starred in Spain's recent UEFA European Under-21 Championship triumph to move into senior contention. He said: "There are a few new names on the squad list but this does not mean we are eliminating anyone from future call-ups, such as (Carlos) Marchena and (Joan) Capdevila. "

We have taken this opportunity to bring in some youngsters, six kids who were champions of the Under-21 Euros. We will be able to learn more about them." Spain meet Chile in Geneva on 2 September before taking on Liechtenstein in a EURO 2012 qualifier four days later.
