Bolton Wanderers lost a second player to a broken leg in a week after Tyrone Mears was injured in training.
His injury comes after South Korean Lee Chung-Yong fractured his right leg in Bolton's friendly against Newport last Saturday.
"It was desperately unlucky for him and we will make sure that he is fully supported in his rehabilitation," Bolton manager Owen Coyle told the club's official website after Mears's accident.
"He will go for a check and an assessment in a month and that will indicate more accurately the timescale for his recovery."
Coyle may now have to re-enter the transfer market, with Lee out for at least nine months and Stuart Holden sidelined until the end of September with ruptured cruciate ligaments. The 28-year-old Mears only joined Bolton last month from Burnley.
