Real Mallorca's French winger Michael Pereira will be sidelined for one month due to a knee injury and will miss the start of the season, the Spanish club said.
The 23-year-old picked up the injury during Real Mallorca's 2-2 friendly draw away to Dutch side Groningen on Sunday after coming off worse in a challenge from striker Nicklas Pedersen.
Club officials initially feared the player had torn ligaments in his right knee, but tests carried out by Real Mallorca doctors on Monday found the ligaments were just strained.
"The club's medical services determined that he had picked up a lighter injury than what appeared to be the case at first," the club said.
Real Mallorca's first match of the 2011/12 La Liga campaign will be against Rayo Vallecano on 21 August.
