Roma winger Jeremy Menez has insisted Ligue 1 is now on a par with Italy's Serie A and the France international also admitted he could be tempted into a return to his native league. Menez, 24, joined Roma from Monaco in 2008 but the former Sochaux youngster told France Football he believes the days when Ligue 1 was seen as a poor relation to Europe's other elite leagues are now over.
"There's no shame in returning from Serie A to Ligue 1, those days are finished now," he said. "PSG could be an option. If the means are there and the club constructs a great team, I could definitely enjoy playing for Paris."
The forward, who rejected a move to Premier League champions Manchester United as a teenager, is a Ligue 1 record-breaker. At 17 he became the youngest ever Ligue 1 hat-trick scorer and then scored the fastest hat-trick in history when he netted three goals in seven minutes against Bordeaux.
