Phillips brace seals Jamaican progression

Jamaica booked their place in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup after seeing off Group B opponents Guatemala 2-0 in Miami.

Demar Phillips was the difference between the sides, scoring in the 65th and 78th minutes to hand the Caribbean champions the win.

After being frustrated for over an hour, the Reggae Boyz finally broke the deadlock when Phillips coasted into the penalty area and surpassed Jonathan Lopez before finding the net.

Phillips scored his second 15 minutes later when he turned home a Dane Richards cross. Guatemala held on for the final 20 minutes with ten men after Cristian Noriega was sent off for a second caution.
