Japan will confirm next Tuesday whether they will play the Copa America tournament from 1-24 July, Argentine Football Federation president Julio Grondona said on Thursday.
"On Tuesday we'll have the definitive confirmation because some countries [from Europe] will give them some players. The most serious problem is with Germany," Grondona told local radio.
Japan's participation in the South American championships, to which they were invited to play, was cast into doubt following the massive earthquake and tsunami which hit the country in March.
The Japanese football association finally decided to take part, but then ran into problems with convincing European clubs to release their Japanese players ahead of the start of the new season.
Japan are drawn in Group A along with hosts Argentina, Colombia and Bolivia.
