Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin has set his captain and star forward Antonio Di Natale a target of 30 league goals this season to help the side secure UEFA Champions League qualification.
Udinese moved into the crucial fourth place at the weekend as they beat Lazio 2-1 to take a two-point lead over the Romans and Roma in the race for the final Champions League spot. To reach their qualification goal, Guidolin is hoping Serie A top scorer Di Natale, who already has 28 goals to his credit, will keep banging them in.
"Toto [Di Natale] needs to keep aiming high. As a friend more than a coach I'm going to tell him to try to score at least 30 goals," said Guidolin. "I'm convinced he can get more than that, which would be difficult for anyone to equal in the future."
Di Natale leads Napoli's Edinson Cavani by two goals with Inter Milan's Samuel Eto'o a distant third on 20. Cavani is suspended for the rest of the season which means barring some cricket scoring from Eto'o, Di Natale will finish top scorer for the second year in a row.
"The fact that our player has already won the top scorer award shouldn't demotivate him," added Guidolin. "He's a great player, we all know about his extraordinary talent, he never stops amazing us with his ability to score goals."
