Motherwell romped past holders Dundee United 3-0 on to book a Scottish Cup semi-final against St Johnstone after a one-sided quarter-final replay at Fir Park.

Jamie Murphy, Chris Humphrey and Francis Jeffers were all on target as Motherwell reached the last four for only the second time since they last won the competition 20 years ago, that being only their second triumph.

Murphy set the ball rolling with the first goal after just eight minutes and thereafter there was little doubt that the hosts would move on to a 16 April date with St Johnstone. Humphrey and Jeffers then scored further strikes either side of the break against the side they beat to land the trophy in 1991.
