Poland have recalled sidelined Brazilian-born midfielder Roger Guerreiro for the UEFA EURO 2012 hosts' looming friendly with Norway, the Polish FA (PZPN) announced on Tuesday.
The PZPN said manager Franciszek Smuda had brought the naturalised Pole back into the squad, after having left him off his list for more than a year.
The move suprised pundits, with the newspaper Przeglad Sportowy summing up the mood: "Roger Returns!"
Roger, now 28, made his Poland debut in May 2008 after getting fast-track citizenship following three years at top-flight club Legia Warsaw.
After 21 caps and four goals, one in Poland's underwhelming EURO 2008 appearance in Austria, he has been left out since late 2009 shortly after signing for Greek club AEK Athens.
He has played just once since Smuda took the helm, at home to Romania in November 2009.
