Bruce Djite scored twice as Gold Coast United beat North Queensland Fury 4-0 at Skilled Park today and kept themselves in the hunt for a top-two finish in the A-League.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Bas van den Brink played a smart ball through for Djite and the striker broke into the box before sliding a shot beyond keeper Sebastian Usai.
Djite made it 2-0 a minute before the break when he was put through by New Zealand international Shane Smeltz - back with the Gold Coast for the first time since leaving for Turkey earlier in the season.
Smeltz then got his name on the scoresheet seven minutes into the second half before Chris Harold scored his first-ever A-League goal seven minutes from time to round off the victory.
Gold Coast are fourth with 38 points, five behind second-placed Adelaide United but with two games in hand over the Reds.
