Korea DPR's Japan-born striker Jong Tae-Se is dreaming of his team making the knockout rounds of the AFC Asian Cup and a potential showdown against his homeland.

The 26-year-old, who plays for German side VfL Bochum, is desperate to see Korea DPR progress from a tough Group D that also includes Iran, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates. The North Koreans fought out a goalless draw in their opener against the UAE, while Iran beat Iraq 2-1. They face Iran in the next round of games tomorrow.

We are in a difficult group, but I think Middle Eastern teams are not as good as they used to be.

"We are in a difficult group, but I think Middle Eastern teams are not as good as they used to be. You no longer hear any names of Iranian players in Europe," he said. "Getting through the group round somehow, I want to play against the Japan national team in the knockout round."
