Brisbane Roar powered 11 points clear at the top of Australia's A-League with a 1-0 away win over second-placed Adelaide United today.
Costa Rican striker Jean Carlos Solorzano pounced in the 69th minute to extend the Roar's unbeaten run to 19 matches stretching back to mid-September. It was Solorzano's 10th goal in 18 outings in his debut A-League season.
With six matches remaining, the Roar should seal the Premier's Plate for finishing at the top of the season standings within their next two games at their rate of progress. They are also gunning to seal the double finals' chance and a top two spot in their next match against Perth Glory at home on Friday. The Roar are 15 points clear of third-placed Central Coast Mariners.
In today's other match, Melbourne Heart ramped up the pressure at the fringe of the top six with a 2-0 win over North Queensland Fury at home. Second half goals to former Socceroo John Aloisi and Dutchman Gerald Sibon allowed the Heart breathing space in sixth place.
