Kuwait national team goalkeeper Nawaf Al Khaldi denied Saudi Arabia their second win in this year's Gulf Cup as the two teams shared a scoreless draw in their second group A match of the competition.
Saudi Arabia could have clinched the game after being awarded a penalty with only two minutes remaining when Taisir Al Jassim was fouled inside the area. However, Mohamad Al Shalhoub failed to beat Kuwait goalkeeper Nawaf Al Khaldi, who dived to his right to save and preserve his side's point.
In today's other match, hosts Yemen were knocked out of the competition after suffering their second consecutive loss - a 2-1 defeat to Qatar. Yemen opened the scoring after 17 minutes when Haitham Al Asbahi found Akram Al Worafi, who fired a powerful shot into the net past goalkeeper Qassim Burhan.
Qatar levelled the scores on 36 minutes when Jarrallah Al Marri followed a cross from Hamed Ismail with a powerful first time shot, then Al Marri scored the 54th-minute winner as he picked up a loose ball and fired into the net. Qatar finished the game with ten men as second half substitute Talal Al Bloushi was sent off with one minute remaining.
