Jean Carlos Solorzano struck late to ensure A-League leaders Brisbane Roar left Newcastle with a point following a 1-1 draw with the Jets at EnergyAustralia Stadium today. Roar duly extended their advantage at the top of the standings to five points over Adelaide United, who have a game in hand.

After a goalless first half Ben Kantarovski put the Jets ahead eight minutes into the second half with his first goal for the club, heading home from a good Kasey Wehrman cross.

It was no less than Newcastle deserved but the goal seemed to spark Brisbane to life and they pressed hard from then on as they looked to maintain an unbeaten run that stretches back to September.

And they finally grabbed the equaliser their pressure deserved with 10 minutes remaining as Ivan Franjic delivered a cross into the area for substitute Solorzano to stab home from close range.
