Zellhofer takes over at struggling Linz

Georg Zellhofer was today named the new coach of Austrian first division strugglers Linz, who are currently bottom of the table, the club's president Peter-Michael Reichel announced.

Linz parted company with previous coach Helmut Kraft yesterday, after a start to the season in which the club have picked up just eight points from 14 matches.

Zellhofer, 50, had been the coach of Bahrain's Olympic team until October. He has enjoyed his greatest successes as a coach in Austria, having previously led Pasching from the lower leagues to a place in the UEFA Cup.

He also won the Austrian Cup with Austria Vienna in 2007.
