J-League leaders Nagoya Grampus defeated Vissel Kobe 2-1 today to extend their lead at the top of the table to 11 points.
Goals by Japanese international striker Keiji Tamada, who headed home a cross from Hayuma Tanaka, and former Colombian international Luis Danilson direct from a free kick gave Nagoya a 2-0 cushion at half-time.
Kobe fought their way back into the game in the second period, with Brazilian midfielder Popo pulling one back in the 70th minute but Nagoya managed to hold on to their one-goal lead.
Nagoya are on 57 points with 18 wins, 11 points clear of defending champions Kashima Antlers and Gamba Osaka. Kashima will play Yokohama Marinos and Gamba Osaka will meet Kyoto Sanga tomorrow.
Shimizu S-Pulse were 3-0 winners over Montedio Yamagata, while Cerezo Osaka were held to a goalless draw by Vegalta Sendai.
