North Queensland Fury condemned Perth Glory to a fifth successive defeat in the A-League as Franz Straka's side claimed a 2-1 victory at Dairy Farmers Stadium today.

Chris Payne put the hosts ahead in the 16th minute, driving a shot from an angle into the top corner of the net, before Glory equalised six minutes later when an unmarked Michael Baird prodded home from close range.

Without Robbie Fowler, who is still to return from a trip back to England, Glory looked blunt in attack and it was Fury who scored the winner 18 minutes from time through David Williams.

The victory was Fury's first in seven games and means they climb up one place to ninth while Perth remain seventh.
