Director of sport Fredi Bobic has warned his Stuttgart players they face the sack if they don't start leaving their egos on the sidelines and start playing for the team.
Stuttgart are experiencing one of their worst starts to the Germany's top flight and currently sit bottom with only three points, from their sole win in seven games.
According to daily paper Bild, Bobic has a remedy to the problem: "We have told the players in no uncertain terms that anyone who thinks his ego comes before the interests of the team has no future at VfB.
"He will be sacked, and that will be the end of it. We're not joking."
Bobic's outburst comes two days after the sacking of Swiss coach Christian Gross, who has since been replaced by former assistant Jens Keller.
Stuttgart's revival could begin tomorrow when they face fellow strugglers Schalke, who are second-from-bottom on only four points.
