With the score at 1-1 after 89 minutes, Smeltz hit the crossbar, denying the All Whites a last-gasp victory against the Central Americans.

New Zealand, revelling in their first home display since the FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa, dominated the young Honduran side, which has been rebuilding after the summer's showcase tournament.

The All Whites were the surprise package at the FIFA World Cup, entering with a ranking of 78th in the world but finishing as the only unbeaten team after draws in the group stage against defending champions Italy, as well as Slovakia and Paraguay.
