AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani insists the Italians are still looking to bring former Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the club.
The Swedish forward's agent has already claimed that Ibrahimovic will not be leaving Barcelona but that has not deterred the seven-time European champions.
"We will try, even if it's difficult," he said.
However, Galliani claimed he has faith in the team even if there are no new additions.
"I don't want to talk about technical or tactical aspects, the team seems in good shape, we'll see at the start of the championship, I'm quite optimistic," he added.
Milan lost on penalties to Juventus in a pre-season friendly on Sunday night following a 0-0 draw.
