French first division newcomers Arles have snapped up former France international midfielder Camel Meriem on a one-year deal.
"I am looking forward to the challenge," said the midfielder, who has been capped three times by his country.
"It is going to be tough but it isn't impossible. I am only 30 and I have a point to prove."
Meriem began his career with Sochaux, helping them to the second division championship in 2001. He then had spells at Bordeaux and Marseille before a four-year stint at Monaco between 2005 and 2009.
A knee injury scuppered a proposed move to Blackburn Rovers at the end of 2009 and he instead had a brief spell with Aris Salonika in the Greek Super League.
