David Beckham hopes to be back in action with Los Angeles Galaxy next month having spent the last five months on the sidelines after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
The 35-year-old English midfielder was ruled out of England's FIFA World Cup campaign after picking up the injury in March during a Serie A match while on loan from the Galaxy to AC Milan.
Ahead of the Galaxy's friendly against Real Madrid, Beckham told Fox Soccer Channel that he had seen a doctor earlier in the day.
The doctor projected an October return, but Beckham said he responded "two or three weeks before that."
"It's just about getting strength back in my calf."
The Galaxy close the Major League Soccer regular season on 24 October, and the post-season will conclude with the MLS Cup on 21 November.
