Gefle IF's hopes of avoiding the drop took another blow today as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat at home to relegation rivals Trelleborgs FF.
The visitors, who had only picked up one point on their travels in the Allsvenskan previously this season, got off to a perfect start thanks to Mattias Adelstam in the opening minute. Andreas Drugge doubled their lead shortly after the half hour mark and the result was all but sealed three minutes later by Peter Abelsson.
Jakob Orlov grabbed one back in the 67th minute but it was to prove little more than a consolation for Gefle, who now occupy the relegation play-off spot, two points behind Trelleborgs and IFK Goteborg, who slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Halmstads BK.
Mikael Rosen scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute for the hosts, who started the day a point behind their opponents. Elsewhere, Djurgardens IF triumphed 1-0 at Kalmar FF thanks to Philip Hellqvist's winner 11 minutes from time.
