USA captain Carlos Bocanegra will play for Saint-Etienne next season after his current club Rennes announced on Friday that they have agreed a deal to sell him.

The former Fulham defender, who can play at centre-back or wide left, will join up with his new team-mates after returning from holiday. The 31-year-old played in all four of his country's games at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, where the US went down to Ghana in the Round of 16.

The value of the transfer was not revealed but is estimated to be in the region of €500,000.
