Diop signs with AEK Athens

Greek club AEK Athens announced Sunday that they had signed Senegalese midfielder Papa Bouba Diop on a two-year contract from Portsmouth. No financial details of the contract were revealed by the team.

"I am satisfied with the outcome of my transfer. I was surprised by the fans who turned out to greet me at the airport. I have seen AEK play in European matches and was impressed," Diop said.

Diop has played in the past for Portsmouth (2007-2010), Fulham (2004-2007), Lens (2002-2004), Grasshoppers (2001) and Neuchatel Xamax (1996-2000).  He has made 63 appearances for the Senegalese national team, scoring 11 goals.
