Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito has signed a one-year contract extension, the Spanish champions have announced.
The Argentina international today put pen-to-paper on the new deal which ties him to the Catalan giants until 2012 and also has the option of an extra year on top of that. The 29-year-old, whose new contract retains the existing buy-out clause of €90 million, joined Barça in 2007 from Real Zaragoza.
Milito suffered a serious knee injury in the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Manchester United in April 2008, but he made his official comeback at the start of this year in the Copa del Rey tie with Sevilla. As well as that, Milito has featured 11 times in the league and in five Champions League matches this season.
"I'm immensely happy. After suffering everything that I have it's great. I've always said that this is the best group I've every played with, and now I can go on holiday delighted to have won the league and because I've been in good shape," Milito told the Barcelona website.
