Striker Sandro Cardoso dos Santos scored the only goal of the game 12 minutes before time as Changsha Ginde took all three points against 10-man Liaoning Zhongyu at Tiexi Stadium.
The Brazilian fired a 25-yard free-kick past goalkeeper Zhang Lu after Boubacar Diarra was sent off following a reckless challenge on Zhang Chenglin. Wen Huyi came close to a first goal after 35 minutes only to see his close-range effort fly just wide.
Both sides wasted a string of chances before Zhang produced a strong run towards the Liaoning box that forced Diarra into a desperate last-ditch tackle to stop him racing clear. Diarra saw red and Sandro powered the ball into the net with a low shot to consign Liaoning to a second consecutive defeat.
"Our problems were exposed today," said Liaoning coach Ma Lin. "A handful of players proved inexperienced and incapable."
Changsha manager Hao Wei was delighted with the win. "The victory belongs to my players because they played at a high level today," he said. "I am extremely thankful to them for the hard-fought victory."
Elsewhere, Luis Ramirez scored the winner for Hangzhou Lucheng as they won 1-0 away to Chongqing Lifan for their first victory of the season.
