Shanghai Shenhua missed the chance to go top of the Chinese Super League as they lost 2-1 to Chongqing Lifan at Hongkou Stadium today.
Colombian forward Duvier Riascos put the hosts ahead four minutes before the break but the visitors came out fighting after the restart and dominated possession. It was no less than Chongqing deserved when they levelled in the 51st minute, Zhao Hejing glancing a header home from a corner.
They should have had a second soon after when Jose went past the goalkeeper which left him with an open goal but he took too long to shoot and a defender got back to avert the danger. Shanghai soaked up the pressure and began to press for a second but their task was made difficult when Brazilian Aderaldo was sent off for a shove.
The balance of play once again swung in the visitors' favour and they snatched all three points in the 90th minute when a free-kick had rattled the woodwork and midfielder Huang Xiyang pounced on the rebound to drive home through a crowd of players.
The defeat means Shanghai remain fourth, two points behind leaders Shandong Luneng while Chongqing climb up to sixth. Elsewhere, bottom-side Hangzhou Lucheng drew 0-0 with Tianjin Teda.
