Joseph Yobo has reportedly been ruled out of the CAF African Cup of Nations with a hamstring injury.
The Everton defender suffered a recurrence of the problem, which has plagued him this season, when the Super Eagles beat Benin in a Group C encounter at the weekend.
He was sent to the Angolan capital Luanda for scans earlier this week and initial suggestions seem to indicate that he needs at least two weeks to recover, meaning he will not be fit in time for the January 31 final, if Nigeria get there.
NFF technical committee chairman Taiwo Ogunjobi said: "Yobo has rejoined the team and the scan revealed that he will be out for two weeks."
Nigeria booked their place in the quarter-final of the competition yesterday after securing a 3-0 win over Mozambique.
