Korea Republic international and former Kyoto Sanga defender Lee Jung-Soo has agreed to play for 2009 J-League champion's Kashima Antlers next season, club officials said on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old defender, who led his country to victory in the 1998 AFC U-19 Championship, has scored one goal in 16 games for Korea Republic. Lee played for the J-League's Kyoto Sanga in the 2009 J-League season, scoring five goals in 32 games. He also won the most valuable player award in the All Stars Game between Japan and Korea Republic this season.
"It's a great honour to play with Kashima's high-quality players and wonderful coach. I'll do my best in the J-League as well as the AFC Champions League next season," said Lee.
In 2009, Kashima became the first team in the J-League to win the title for a third year running - the seventh time they have won it since the inaugural 1993 championship.
