Russian champions Rubin Kazan ended the season in style with a 3-0 win at Kuban Krasnodar. Hasan Kabze and Rafal Murawski scored in the first half and substitute Igor Portnyagin added a third after the break as Kuban were relegated.
Zenit St. Petersburg finished third thanks to a 2-1 win at home to second-placed Spartak Moscow, despite playing for most of the game with ten men following Sszabolcs Huszti's 43rd-minute sending off. Goals from Konstatin Zyryanov and Nicolas Lombaerts either side of half-time put Zenit two up before Malik Fathi pulled one back late on.
Victory enabled Zenit to finish ahead of Lokomotiv Moscow on goal difference. Lokomotiv were 3-1 winners at already-relegated Khimki. Dmitri Sychev scored twice after Peter Odemwingie's opener for the visitors, while Aleksandr Antipenko registered for Khimki to make it 2-1 in the 66th minute.
CSKA Moscow beat capital rivals Saturn 3-0 thanks to goals from Alan Dzagoev, Milos Krasic and Pavel Mamaev to finish fifth. Rostov confirmed their top-flight status for next season with a 1-1 draw at home to Amkar Perm.
Elsewhere, Dinamo Moscow won 2-1 at FC Moscow, Tomsk saw off Krylya Sovetov 3-1 and Spartak Nalchik were 4-2 winners over Terek Grozny.
