In our regular Sunday feature, FIFA.com brings you the names of some of the best-known figures on Planet Football who will be celebrating their birthdays over the next seven days.


The much-travelled German coach Uli Stielike turned 51 on Sunday. Currently coaching Al-Arabi in Qatar, one of Stielike’s posts before moving to the Arab emirate was as Ivory Coast coach. As a player, Stielike started off with Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga and then spent eight years in the service of Spanish perennial title contenders, Real Madrid.


Another coach, Héctor Cúper (54) is also celebrating this week. The Argentinian has previously been in charge at Valencia, Inter Milan and Betis Sevilla. He is currently attempting to steer Aris Saloniki to the top of the Greek Super League.


Nani (23) has been a Manchester United player since summer 2007. The talented winger is playing for his country this week as Portugal attempt to get past Bosnia-Herzegovina in the play-offs and seal a berth at the FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010™.


Peter Schmeichel (46) is one of the greats of Manchester United's storied history. The former Denmark goalkeeper spent eight years at Old Trafford. Schmeichel represented his country at France 1998 and had further Premier League stints at Aston Villa and Manchester City.


Laurent Blanc, 44 today, is a legend of French football. The 1998 FIFA World Cup winner is currently enjoying great success as coach of Girondins Bordeaux. In a stellar playing career, Blanc was a defensive stalwart at Olympique Marseille, Inter Milan and Manchester United.


New Zealand defender Abby Erceg (20) has already achieved great things in her short career. She can look back on two FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cups, the FIFA Women’s World Cup China 2007, and the Olympic Football Tournament 2008. Erceg signed for Espanyol in Spain in September 2009.


Italy forward Vincenzo Iaquinta will be 30 today. After seven years at Udinese Calcio, the FIFA World Cup winner from Germany 2006 signed for Juventus, Turin in summer 2007. Iaquinta is contracted to La Vecchia Signora until 2012.
