Sydney FC's Alex Brosque and Aston Villa's Shane Lowry have been added to Australia's squad for this weekend's AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Oman, Football Federation Australia have announced.

Striker Brosque has been called up as a replacement for Japan-based Josh Kennedy who has a back injury, while uncapped Lowry was called up as defensive cover.

It will be Brosque's first selection in the national squad since 2006 and his first under coach Pim Verbeek. He has played four internationals. The Socceroos have started arriving in Muscat to prepare for their AFC Asian Cup 2011 Group B qualification match on Saturday.

Australia lead the group on goal difference from Oman.
